A clear vision
Why are we calling this 20/20: God's Vision, Our Decision?
God has not been mysterious or vague about His vision for our church
– to be a relational bridge between man and his creator through faith
in His son Jesus. God has allowed us to see that vision with 20/20
clarity. 20/20 also stands for the year 2020, which symbolizes the
future. We believe that our decision to respond to God’s call during
this campaign will determine the impact our church will have on future
generations and into eternity.
Why are we building?
ICA is committed to the vision God has given us to reach the lost
and help believers grow in a personal relationship with Jesus. The
Spirit of God has called ICA to reach hundreds of people in this area
with the gospel, and we want to be faithful to that calling. We
envision a day when ICA will be full of people of all ages and from all
walks of life, who on a weekly basis are finding Christ as their Savior
and growing in their devotion to Him. One of the steps to fulfilling
this vision is to build a facility that will enable us to create the
proper environment for this to occur. God has blessed us with land in
one of the most attractive locations in Doral. We continue to see more
and more people visit and join the church as we meet in our temporary
location. Simply stated, we need a house in order to carry out God’s
vision for ICA.
A focused plan
What kind of professional outside help has been enlisted?
We have consulted with several architects, as well as local builders
in this preliminary planning phase. Injoy Stewardship Services, a
branch of John Maxwell's ministries, is providing consulting services
for the campaign.
What are we building?
Depending on the level of commitment of our members throughout this
20/20: God’s Vision, Our Decision stewardship campaign, the new ICA
facility will have ample parking, a spacious lobby, an approximately
1,200 seat main sanctuary, additional auditoriums for youth and
children, offices, a bookstore and much more. The most important thing
is that the design of our new facility will allow us to create the
ideal environment, so much so that those who attend our church will
want to establish and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus.
What is the total cost for the project?
The total projected cost for the project is approximately $12
million. However, this includes the land valued at $6 million, which we
have acquired and is paid off. Additionally we have $1.2 million in
savings. Taking our projected $12 million figure and subtracting $6
million for the land, and $1.2 million for the funds we have in savings
leaves us with a projected balance of $4.2 million.
Can a church of our size accomplish a goal like this?
According to Injoy Stewardship Services, churches are typically able
to raise 1.5 to 3 times their annual budget. Many churches raise even
more. Considering our current annual budget, our church should be
capable of raising $1.5 million during the campaign.
Doesn’t this fall way short of the $4.2 million needed to complete the project?
Yes. However, we want to make sure we do everything we can to
exceed even our own expectations. Our church, as it stands today, has
the potential to surpass the $1.5 million projection if we all do our
part. Besides, we don’t need the entire $4.2 million in order to begin
construction on the first phase of the project, which involves erecting
the main building structure where our church can meet. Additionally,
over the course of our three-year campaign, our Follow Up Team will be
in charge of giving new members and families the opportunity to
participate. Ultimately, we still need to pray and depend on God to
take care of the impossible once we’ve taken care of the possible.
When do we begin construction?
We are already in the process of obtaining permits to clear the
land, relocate trees, and fill the land. If all goes well, construction
is projected to begin in the fall of 2006.
When will the project be completed?
Fall 2007 is the target date to have a building in place where we
can hold Sunday Morning Services. However, it will take some time to
finalize all of the environments we want to create which is why the
target date for completion of the entire project is the spring of 2009.
A clear commitment
How can I be part of this building campaign?
There are many ways you can be involved in 20/20: God's
Vision, Our Decision. First, begin praying for this exciting time at
ICA. Pray that it would be an experience that unifies our church and
solidifies our commitment to God's vision for us. Also, sign up to help
with one of the campaign teams. There are several teams that are in
need of fun-loving and willing volunteers! And finally, begin to seek
God and consider how He is leading you to make a financial commitment.
How will we pay for this building project?
We are asking people to commit three-year pledges of financial
support, above and beyond their regular giving, to cover the costs of
this building project.
How is this commitment different from my regular giving?
All contributions given toward the building project will go directly
to that project. Because the operations and ministries of the church
need to continue without disruption, we need building contributions to
be over and above your regular giving.
How will the commitments be made?
On May 21, we are gathering at 11:00 a.m. for an unforgettable
worship service. During this Commitment Sunday, we will ask people to
make a financial pledge through the use of a commitment card.
Will financial commitments be made public?
Absolutely not.
Can commitments be changed if necessary?
Yes. We understand that circumstances change, and that along with
those changes, your ability to give may increase or decrease. Your
pledge may be changed at any time throughout the three-year period.
Will new members be asked to help fund the project?
Yes. Throughout the three-year campaign, we will inform new members
of their opportunity to participate and give them the chance to make a
pledge.
Will we incur debt for this project?
We do not intend to incur debt for this project. Our faith is, that
with all of our sacrificial giving, any debt we might incur will be
relatively small and strictly short-term to cover construction costs.
